I’m going to go on the record and say I don’t like water. I’ve programmed my body to like tea, coffee, pop, juice and everything BUT water. I’d also like to admit that I’m a little lazy when it comes to staying hydrated so I don’t want to bother drinking it. I’ve also underestimated the benefits of drinking water because I’ve never taken the time to really learn what water means to my body.
If you are tired, have headaches, digestive issues, muscle aches and pains, trouble sleeping, or dull / dry skin, you probably aren’t getting enough. I suffer from many of these issues and I found that drinking enough water was one of the first things that helped improve them. But first, you need to find out how to stay hydrated.
Drinking water is a good habit, and like all good habits, I have to work on developing it. Some things I did to help me develop a good water drinking habit and learn how to stay hydrated were –
√Take it with me- I’ve invested in some water bottles that I bring with me to work. This water bottle keeps water cold all day. Plus, since the lid screws on you can just throw it in your bag. I also love Tervis Tumbler ones because they don’t sweat but those you need to put in a cup holder for traveling. These are also great for workouts.
√ Add flavoring to make it taste better or even better, add squeezed lemon or cucumber slices.
√ Set a timer on my phone, for every hour. Drink when it goes off. I’m not a good sipper, I’d rather just chug water so this works for me.
Hope these tips help you learn how to stay hydrated! Have a great day!
