Milk and Honey– I bought this book based on all the good reviews it has received, and reading a few poems. I absolutely adored this book; it made me smile, and ache. It’s all too relatable because it’s rooted in human emotion and experience. Her short, free style poems carry such weight. I’ve always loved reading poetry and every poem in here connects on some level. I’m sure everyone can connect to at least one of these poems if not more. It only took me a day to go through the book because I couldn’t put it down!
Self Compassion– Many of us have been taught how to be compassionate toward others but we haven’t been taught how to have self compassion. The author’s writing style is compassionate, and she draws the reader in with her personal stories combined into practical methods The exercises provided have been helpful for me as I work through this book. I’m not finished yet, but I believe it will continue to be just as amazing. This book is a must read for everybody.
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F****– I was skeptical, because the title suggests it might be a mean and cynical book, but it actually explains some deep concepts of life in a light hearted way. This was another good read that helps me when I am having a rough day. It basically gives you permission to stop being a doormat. While I didn’t agree with everything in the book, he has some amazing points and I found myself making a lot of highlights and notes while I read.
