Q:What styling tools do you use most often?
A: I use my 1″ Paul Mitchell Neuro styling iron. It’s great for straightening, creating beach waves. Or even a curly look! Check out my instagram and youtube @hairbybradleyleake for some inspiration and different looks!
Q: What are some hairstyling dont’s?
A: Always make sure your hair is 100% dry before using any styling tool. If you shower at night and go to bed with wet hair. even if your hair feels dry, start your morning off with a quick mist of a heat protector and a rough blow dry to ensure all the moisture is out of the hair. then style with your desired hot tool
Tip: To test for moisture feel the hair for cool spots!
Q:What is your #1 hair tip?
A:When going darker always use a gloss unless you are needing grey coverage! Semi permanent color is a life saver for those who want to be a rich brunette in the winter and a blonde bombshell in the summer!
Q: What advise can you give guests heading to the salon?
A: always come with an inspiration board. pictures from your favorite instagram account or just a photo from a magazine. pictures are the best way to communicate to your stylist the look you want! Keep in mind we are not magicians; kim kardashian (black to blonde) is not salon reality. A great consultation will ensure you and your stylist are on the same page! As a good stylist its important to be upfront about the expectation and results!
Q: What are the 2015 summer hair trends?
A: The summer look is all about embracing natural texture, beach waves and simple easy on the go hairstyles. Braids are very easy and super versatile when in comes to styling your hair for warm weather.
Q: How do you advise someone against colors that may not work for them but they have their heart set on?
A: The consultation is the most important part of a hair service. talking about the clients maintenance routine and desired result can be a deal breaker. for example if my guest wants to be a platinum blonde but is on a budget and cant afford to get her hair done every 4 weeks. maybe a high contrast balayage around her fact to make her feel blonde is a better option. “Balayage” is a free form artistic highlight done by hand painting. this effect leaves the guest with a lighter sun kissed effect with much lower maintenance than a platinum blonde.
