An oversize cardigan is the perfect substitute for a sweatshirt.  I love putting one on with skinny jeans or leggings and then heading out the door. You can hardly go wrong with wearing one. They are comfortable and I have yet to see a body type that they do not look great one. The best part is that they are warm and comfortable.
